My dad, Frank Arthur Denney, asked me to do a little research on our family. So I tried my best to look us up on ancestry . com but to no avail. I couldn't find anything past the few people that I plugged into the site itself. I never met my grandfather so I really don't know much about him except for the little things my dad has told me.. I know my grandfathers name was Everett Manning Denney and my grandmothers name was Gladys Strunk my dad grew up in Palatka, Fl. and weve lived in south east Alabama for all my life. Any help or information would be great!

I stumbled upon your page by accident. My mother's maiden name was Denney. You spoke of a William Denney in Jay County I wanted to tell you that Grandpa used to tell me that Bryant, Indiana (where we all grew up) was originally called Billtown because it was founded by three men named Bill, and Bill Denney was one of them! Grandpa is 89 now and not in very good health. I wish you luck with your project

Hello. I live in Williamsburg, Virginia. Our neighbor two doors down is Mrs. Charles Rowe. Her late husband was born and raised in Delaware. His mother collected many fine antiques and items from that area where she lived until her death. Charlie and Mary Ellen inherited most of her things.
Included in this is a framed piece of what is called "cutwork". This is a very ornate, handmade piece of folk art that was probably a wedding gift for Timothy P. Denney and wife Ann Jane Merritte Denney in 1836. It is a combination of fraktur from the Penn. Germans and cutwork. It has a great deal of tiny handwritten area with many pictures of ships, houses, crops, etc. Mary Ellen would like to sell the framed piece. I've been trying to help her.
Within the last four months it was appraised at $2500. If you would like to see pics of the piece please contact me. I have no financial involvement in this. An auction house in Penn., Pook & Pook, would like to have it in a January auction. They have seen it and will estimate it at between $2000 and $4000.
However, I feel interested members of the Denney family or descendants of Timothy and Ann might be interested first.
Not sure how often this site is checked? Please contact me for more information. Thank you, Phil May
I am researching my Denney roots and have found GrGrandfather as Nathaniel B Denney, GrGrGrandfatehr as Timothy Pennington Denney then I am stuck at his father whose name I think is James, born in Delaware, died in Dover Delaware. Does anyone know these Denneys?

Enjoysble site. 20,000 Denn(e)ys in the USA? I'm from England, Leicestershire (same county that Quakers founder George Fox hails from.) I wonder how many of us reside in the UK? I heard somewhere that there are a lot of Denney graves in Essex, east of London, and that a batch of Denneys may have been amongst the escaping huguenots from France. My Dad might know a bit - contact him and say I mentioned it if you want (john@denney.force9.co.uk) Incidently, I live in Tokyo Japan, and have done for 15 years after marrying a local lass. Keep up the good work!

I have enjoyed your website. Thank you for your time and effort. My family hails from Denney Holler, Kentucky when my 4th Great Grandfather James Denney married Lucetta Burtram/Butterrum/Bertram and migrated to Oklahoma in the late 1800's. Keep up the good work and again, Thank You!

Thank you for your website and all who contriibuted to it.
My daughter (Erin Kendra Denny) and I have discovered the joys of working on this family history together even though we are 5000 miles apart. We have a tree we are working on @ Ancestry.com. We come from the Pilot Mt Dennys...Gabriel, Joel, Izzy, William, Sam ...I know there were a lot of many of those names. I currently live in Vilnius, Lithuania, but will be moving to Druskininkai, Lithuania this summer. Dtown as my friends/family call it is an old Czarist spa town. I mostly work in Africa these days but use Lithuania as my permanent base. Yes, the Denny's are never afraid to try new things or places.
